“Polyurethane Laminate Fabric” which is also known as waterproof PUL fabric, is a soft, lightweight and flexible fabric. It is waterproof yet breathable and does not fray.

So what is PUL fabric made of? Our regular PUL fabric is made of a thin polyester fabric which is has a cling film like polyurethane laminate layer bonded to the back. Other fabrics can also be laminated in similar ways too – like our cuddle plush PUL! This is a cuddly soft front with the same laminated backing. Polyester fabric is usually used to make PUL because it is durable, takes the lamination bonding well, and allows the fabric to retain some stretch even after laminating with polyurethane.

Polyurethane laminate fabric can be used as a stand-alone fabric or lined. It is great for sewing waterproof clothing, reusable sanitary products, cloth nappies (diapers), mattress protectors, bibs, wet bags and much more.

PUL Fabric Care Advice:

Is PUL Washable? Although PUL fabric is often considered machine washable up to 50°c, we currently recommend washing at 30°c to improve the durability of the fabric.

Can You Put PUL Fabric In The Dryer?
Yes, putting PUL in a tumble drier at low temperatures can help to seal any needle holes from sewing and help increase how waterproof your finished project is. We do not recommend drying at higher temperatures.

We do not recommend ironing. Luckily this fabric is not prone to creasing easily.
