Low Shank (Domestic)

Low shank sewing machines include the majority of domestic home sewing machines. This includes most Brother, Toyota, Babylock, Elna, Janome, Juki, Kenmore, and modern Singer sewing machines.

To check which presser feet your sewing machine is compatible with, you can put your sewing machine model in the search bar. If we haven’t yet indexed your model of sewing machine, you can check if it is a low shank sewing machine by lowering the presser foot and measuring from the screw that holds the foot/snap-on foot adaptor onto the bar, down to the footplate. A low shank sewing machine should measure approximately ¾ of an inch (just under 2cm).

Low shank sewing machines are compatible with both screw-on low shank sewing machine presser feet as well as universal fitting snap-on feet.

Please note that if you have a Husqvarna Viking or Pfaff sewing machine, many of the machines may be able to fit some universal feet. However, they can often have needle clearance issues as the needle is set in a slightly different position relative to the foot. For this reason, we recommend checking out our Pfaff and Husqvarna Viking feet ranges instead.

Mini sewing machines are also often not compatible with universal feet.
