Oh Deer! – Harmony

“Oh Deer!” is a gentle nature-inspired pattern from the “Harmony” Collection designed by Melissa Lee for Riley Blake Designs. This fabric is a tribute to the woodland wonders that grace the Northern Californian landscapes, which inspired the designer to create this collection.

At the heart of this woodland pattern is a majestic deer. Instead of the majestic male stag that people often prefer to depict, this pattern features the face of either a gentle female doe or a young fawn. The faces are circled with garlands of leaves and flowers, with little vines of leaves connecting between the animals, which helps to perfectly balance this animal portrait pattern.

In keeping with the peaceful feel of this pattern, the background is a gentle seacrest green like a dreamy meadow background to these forest animals.

Measuring at 110cm (43 inches) in width, “Oh Deer” is available by the metre (39 ⅓ inches) or half a metre (19 ½ inches). Multiple quantities of these will be cut as a continuous piece. For smaller projects, the fabric is also available as a fat quarter, sizing up at approximately 55cm x 50cm (21 ½ x 19 ½ inches).

This pattern lends itself beautifully to fussy cutting. The portraits are perfectly positioned to gently gaze out of the centre of quilt blocks or a colour-blocked piece such as a bag or a quilted placemat. But if fabric piecing isn’t your thing, we also think this would make a wonderful woodland wrap dress or fabulous forest-themed floor cushion.
