Fittonias – August 2024

Fittonias are much loved colourful houseplants, and this wonderfully leafy pattern definitely reflects that. It has been designed by Philip Jacobs who is part of the Kaffe Fassett Collective, as part of the August 2024 Collection for Free Spirit Fabrics.

This plant based pattern is so colourful that it has a floral feel to it. Also known as a nerve plant or a mosaic plant, the bold red veins and indigo blue colouring in between, makes these striking leaves beautifully eye-catching. No background is needed on this fabric because these fittonia plants are so lush that any house plant addict would be proud to grow such a dense cluster.

At a width of approximately 110cm (43 inches), this fabric is perfectly suited to a wide range of sewing projects. We think it would be especially fun to use such a bold cotton for making a leafy lampshade or a plant-themed placement? Or wouldn’t it make a fabulous foliage-filled frock?

This cotton is available by the metre (39 ⅓ inches) or half a metre (19 ½ inches). Multiple quantities will be sent as a continuous length. Fat quarter sizes are also available, measuring about 55cm x 50cm (21 ½ x 19 ½ inches).
