Description

This stunning Amaryllis cotton fabric has been designed by Philip Jacobs who is part of the Kaffe Fassett Collective, as part of the February 2022 Collection for Free Spirit Fabrics.

The floral pattern showcases Amaryllis flowers, renowned for their trumpet-like shape, unfurling in a dazzling display of petals. The petals are broad and slightly curved, splayed outwards to reveal a central star-like formation where the pollen-filled stamen and pistil reside. But this cotton has all the beauty without the pollen stains!

Each flower is a cascade of purples and lavender hues, with strokes of white and lemony yellows for highlights, giving the petals depth and vibrancy, as the colours pop out in an eye-catching way against the contrasting black background.

The lines mimicking the petal’s veins help to add to the petal’s texture as well as giving a sense of movement. Each bloom overlaps one another in varying stages of openness, from bud to full bloom, just like looking down into the middle of a full bouquet.

Free Spirit Fabrics is renowned for its high quality and soft feel cotton. This fabric has a width of approximately 110cm (43 inches). It is available by the metre (39 โ…“ inches) or half a metre (19 ยฝ inches). Multiple quantities will be sent as a continuous length. For those who only need a smaller burst of flowers, a fat quarter measuring about 55cm x 50cm (21 ยฝ x 19 ยฝ inches) is also available.

This beautiful large floral pattern is perfect for a wide range of sewing projects from crafting to quilting, but we think that it would be particularly fun to make an amaryllis apron dress, or beautiful bunting.

So if you want your next project to be blooming marvellous, then we hope that this purple amaryllis cotton fabric will be that cotton that helps you to add a petal of perfection to whatever you are making!
