Honeycomb Hill

Katherine Lenius has always dreamt about becoming a backyard beekeeper. That dream might not have happened yet, but she’s put all that hope and passion straight into this fabric design, which clearly shines out with her admiration for buzzing bees and pollen-filled flowers. This is the main fabric design from the Honeycomb Hill Collection in the Blush colourway that she has worked with Riley Blake Designs to produce.

This delightful cottage garden-inspired pattern whisks us away to a beautiful scene where people and nature are working together in gentle harmony. These old-fashioned hives and the dreamy pink background gives the fabric a comforting feeling of reminiscing about days when the air was filled with the sweet aroma of meadow flowers and a gentle buzz of bees.

The vintage golden brown, dome-shaped hives are surrounded by deep pink flowers and sprigs of leaves swaying in a gentle breeze, as the busy bees dart to and fro around them. The bees are drawn in mid-flight, darting from flower to flower with a sense of purpose and determination. The soft hazey pink hues make you wonder if this is somewhere in a magical fairytale.

Riley Blake Designs are known for their premium fine cotton fabrics, making this bee cotton perfect for a wide range of sewing projects from quilting to crafting. We think that this cotton would be particularly fun to make hive hexies from, or even a bee blouse.

At approximately 110cm (43 inches) in width, “Honeycomb Hill” is available by the metre (39 ⅓ inches), half a metre (19 ½ inches) or skinny quarter which is 25cm length (9.8 inches). Any orders with multiple quantities or combinations of these cuts will be sent as a continuous piece. For example, if you’d like 125cm, just add a skinny quarter and a metre to the basket before you check out and we’ll cut it as 125cm for you. We also have a fat quarter size available at approximately 55cm x 50cm (21 ½ x 19 ½ inches).
