“Deep Blue Sea,” by Studio E is a whale cotton fabric that transports you right into a beautiful underwater world in a serene blue ocean.

Capturing the essence of the ocean’s soulful depths, these majestic whales seem to be gently gliding across the sea. Their bodies are drawn in royal blues and navy tones, with both light and dark mysterious patterns catching small parts of their bodies, like a whisper of oceanic secrets, each line and swirl a hint at some long-forgotten legend. Next to each whale is a baby whale swimming close by, protected by the adult in their quiet swim.

The blue tones of the background swirl around each other like waves dancing in the ocean’s melody. Bubbles and gentle waves are scattered across the pattern adding a feeling of gentle movement to this underwater scene.

Nestled among these gentle giants, seaweed tendrils in light green with hints of shadowy blue, seem to move with an unseen current, their delicate fronds curving as if they are swaying with the tide. Starfish, in bright coral and tangerine colours, stretch their arms as if they are catching a ride on the wave. While seashells, from the spiralled conch to the scalloped edges of a sun-kissed shell, float on by. These warm earthy tones add a lovely contrast to the cool blues of the sea.

With a width of approximately 110cm (43 inches), “Deep Blue Sea” is offered by the metre (39 ⅓ inches) or half a metre (19 ½ inches). If you want to order more than a metre, then don’t worry, we’ll send this as a continuous piece unless you ask us to cut it. But if you have a smaller creation in mind, then it’s also available as a fat quarter, measuring approximately 55cm x 50cm (21 ½ x 19 ½ inches).

Although this cotton would be perfect for a wide range of sewing projects, we think that it would be particularly great to use this cotton to make a bathroom whale wall hanging, or a serene sea sleep mask, or maybe even a whale wrap dress.
